Uppingham Primary

The design for Uppingham Primary School uses an innovative arrangement of classrooms and other spaces to provide flexible and adaptable accommodation for a wide range of uses. The design extended the school into the surrounding landscape to provide further opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

The project is designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. The building utilises a heavyweight masonry exterior with a pre-cast concrete roof deck to provide thermal mass, while natural cross-ventilation cools the building with the assistance of underground cooling pipes. A rainwater harvesting system provides water for flushing toilets and a site wide Sustainable Drainage System has also been incorporated.
